Australia’s vast coasts and oceans are rich with marine life, making Australia renowned for its biodiversity. Unfortunately, this biodiversity is under constant threat as our marine wildlife is being slaughtered and destroyed. In order to help alleviate this problem, Sea Shepherd, a non-profit conservation organization, was established.
Tracing its roots back in the 1980s, the organization was spawned after widespread illegal whaling activities worldwide. Since then, Sea Shepherd have made it a mission to protect all marine wildlife and has now embarked on over 200 voyages defending the world’s oceans and saving defenseless marine life along the way. Today, Sea Shepherd Australia is extremely active along our pristine coastlines in an effort to preserve the exquisite biodiversity that lays within. Sea Shepherd Australia uses innovative direct-action tactics to investigate, document, and take action when necessary to expose and confront illegal activities on the high seas.
Marine life conservation and protection are some of the toughest problems that we face today in many parts of the world and right here in our oceans. We believe that actions speak louder than words and that these actions, big or small, create an impact to our world.
