Australia’s biggest supermarket and retail chain, Woolworths have become a beloved household name across the country by providing Aussies with the fresh produce and hard to find items they love. With over 900 stores operating in every corner of Australia, Woolies further expands its reach by opening a supermarket in Green Square Town Centre in Zetland. Slated to open its doors by mid-2017, Woolworths partnered with Posterscope Sydney and Reach Media to create a bespoke, experiential local area marketing campaign in Zetland aimed at driving customers into the new store.
The crisp campaign creative placed Woolworth’s fresh branding as front-of-mind while informing customers about a new Woolworths store being open in Green Square - conveniently showing the new store’s exact location at Ebsworth Street via a map on the coffee cup. By dominating the café real estate in Zetland within walking distance to the new store, Woolworths successfully presented future customers with feel good advertising while they enjoyed their favourite coffee – further improving the customer’s perception of Woolworths via the magic of coffee cup advertising. This hot and fresh approach employed by the fresh food people has proved to be a success at driving new customers to the new store.
